Having a baby is usually thought of as a happy time. However, as a new Mum or Dad, you may not necessarily feel this straight away, as the reality can sometimes be much tougher than anticipated. Although postnatal depression is most commonly associated with Mums, the symptoms of low mood and depression can also affect Dads. This course is aimed at all parents affected by parental stress.
The CBT therapy course will compare the expectations you had of parenthood, with the reality and will help you to explore the important practical steps you can take to help manage your mood, improve your self-confidence and help you to cope day to day. You’ll be introduced to a range of tools and techniques which will help you effectively manage stress, anxiety and low mood that may be associated with parenthood.
We understand that whilst taking part in these sessions people may require answers to questions that they have, that will help their learning. If this relates to you please feel free to email us at epunft.questions.therapyforyou@nhs.net, ensuring that the title of your chosen course is in the subject box and letting us know your name and date of birth. We will then ensure someone from our mental health therapy service answers your query within two working days.
This course is suitable if you are or are suffering from:
- Low/depressed
- Lacking in confidence
- Stress
