Physical health problems can affect our ability to go about our daily lives and carry out tasks effectively.
These long-term conditions affect 26 million people in England alone, with 1 in 4 visiting their GP for unexplained symptoms. The thoughts and feelings we experience when dealing with physical health issues can be highly distressing, and it may be impossible to see a finish line when the pain or mental distress subsides.
This free online CBT course is led by NHS therapists, designed to help you understand your feelings and provide techniques to better cope with the thoughts, emotions and behaviours that impact on your ability to adjust to living with physical health problems.
Though we can’t change your circumstances, how your condition affects you physically, or remove your feelings completely, we can introduce techniques that may help you adjust and live in a better, more comfortable way.
The purpose of this course is to provide tools and techniques to support your mental wellbeing during your experience with a physical health issue. It is not medical advice. If your condition is causing you problems, you should always seek the advice of a medical professional.
We understand that whilst taking part in these sessions, you may want to ask questions that will aid your learning. If you’re in need of answers, please feel free to email us at epunft.questions.therapyforyou@nhs.net, ensuring that the title of your course is in the subject line and your name and date of birth is enclosed within. We will then ensure one of our talking therapies professionals answers your query within two working days.
This course is suitable if you are or are suffering from:
- Diabetes
- Arthritis
- Heart conditions
- Lung conditions
- Fibromyalgia
- Undiagnosed pain
